The one BIGGIE IMHO that sucks is the 32 gallon tank!
the first thing that comes out is the stock tank. I'll put a titan 55 gal replacement in, with 7600# of payload I think I can carry a couple extra gallons of fuel.
back to the drawing board GM
Back to the drawing board for what? I think I would wait and see what the Ram does going up Ike. If the Ram embarrasses GM and Ford, I would be inclined to agree. That has yet to happen on any run I have seen since they started the test, typically the Ram is number 2 or 3, but who knows maybe this is Ram's year. I think it will be interesting to see what the Ram fan boys say about the CP4 pump. Only Idaho has stuck to his guns. I bet there will be a rethinking about what a POS it is, now that Ram is using it.
The reality is I feel all these new trucks kind of fall under the same category as the 700+ horsepower cars. There is a relative small subset that can take full advantage of the potential. Just because you have the cash to purchase doesn't mean they have the skills and temperament to hook up to 30k lbs or run that 10 second quarter mile. Modern vehicles have surpassed the average consumers pay grade in a lot of instances.
I wouldn't disagree with that. 1000 foot pounds or 910 or even 800 gives a pickup more capability than the vast majority of owners can utilize regardless of even their skill level in pulling 30K plus. I think the OEM's do it because they can, and buyers have a never ending want for more. The same desire that gave way to Bully dog and Edge and all the others years ago when the diesels were only making 500 foot pounds.
The ZL1 1LE Camaro is one of the fastest cars in the World (something like number 16 if I remember correctly) around the "Ring" in Germany. There are very few drivers that can extract that level of performance out of the car, yet there it is a Hypercar beater for under $75K. They don't sit long on the dealers lot, most go to Cars and Coffee on Sundays when they do leave the dealers lot. One day it will end, but until then "smokem if you gottem".
