New RV toilet needed

Some good friends of ours who also have a TT realized that their toilet was no longer holding water in the bowl and now the toilet needs to be replaced. Anyone know of any good deals around? (They would love to get something a little taller than standard if possible.) Thanks in advance!

These are so much better than plastic. Expensive, yep. Not a 'good deal', but a good toilet.

I agree, we've got the same model, ie the China bowl in the tall model.

But, like others have said, if you're up to it, you just might be able to fix your old one. Basically, the toilet never wears out, just the components like the seal, valve, etc, go bad and are easily replaced.

If you want an upgrade though, go with the one in the posted link by 2oldman.

Some of you suggested repairing the broken seal. What would you suggest as a starting point for someone who has never attempted such a repair?

That is a lot more difficult than it appears, which is why I recommended a new one.

Going the cheaper route... Seal easy to replace if need be. Usually just something around seal letting water drain. For height, check out https://www.amazon.com/Thetford-24967-Toilet-Riser-White/dp/B0006H9364/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1501101166&sr=8-2&keywords=rv+toilet+seat+riser

    Works wonders on the knees.
  • Make and model would help.
Quite often debris gets into the seal. It can be removed by cleaning. Thetford makes a tool called bent screwdriver. I made one out of a metal coat hanger. Cut it about a foot long, bente a 90 degree angle about one inch. Stuck the one inch into grove and cleaned the seal area.
Replacement I would look at is a Thetford Bravura. Fits most bolt patterns.
  • Just repair the seal no need to replace the toilet. Seals can normally be replaced easily in a few minutes.
