New seats?

I would like to get some sort of an air ride seat in my F350. Anybody got any ideas?

  • Industrial seats, go to pickup seating go to Ford seats and brackets. Manual pump up extra low profile air ride brackets. Might lose you electric adjustment options.
  • New member here, but I believe that I can recommend something for you to investigate as I have just installed a set of air suspension seats in my 2000 F250 to replace the factory bench seat, I suggest you check out the seating options for pickups and medium duty trucks on Industrial Seats.

Total for two Workhorse cloth seats with arm rests and air suspension bases plus shipping was around $1550. I already had an existing air source for my Pacbrake exhaust brake so I didn't need their recommended air compressor kit.

Took most of a Saturday to remove the old seat and install the two new seats myself plus another half day to plumb in all the air lines into my air system.

Only had them in for a couple of weeks now but I'm pleased with how they ride. When traveling on our camping adventures my wife will be able to adjust her seat to suit her and not be crunched up with the seat in the fully forward position like I need it to operate the foot pedals.
  • My partner has a bad back so I've thought about an air ride seat for our F350 but I'm not sure we have enough cab height. Need to measure the floor to ceiling height clearance. Truck cabs tend to be higher/taller than pickup cabs. The air ride box is a good 12" in height. Varies from about 8" full down to 14" full up to the bottom of the seat.

Truck dealers often have seats you can try in their show rooms. Large truck stops like Iowa 80 sell seats in their truck accessory "chrome shop".

Also looked at converting the suspension to air ride. That costs around 2k in parts and another 2k to install.

    Good luck.
  • Bostrum makes the good air ride seats for the big rigs, They have bases to fit all sorts of different rides.
  • Try the commercial/fleet departments at larger dealers. They usually have resources for upfitting what they sell. Even if they do not sell you a vehicle, many get a kick back from referrals.

Don't know of a specific manufacturer to send you to, but are there any truck customizing shops in your area? Such a shop might be able to help you out. Have seen plenty of customized/upfitted one ton trucks of all makes on display at RV shows and some did have air suspension front seating.
  • most likely will need to be custom made if you want an air ride. Air seats sit on a raised platform so the bladder can fit under neath it, at least on school buses. You need to probably go to a truck sales and see what they have for a medium duty truck. Plus you will need to install a compressor and air tank to keep it inflated. The bus I currently drive has one and it is really NOT comfortable and the thing is either too high or too low and it bounces all the time as a result.

A better option would be custom seats from a racing outfit, or possibly have your truck seats redone at an upholstery shop and have them use a better foam.
