New Silverado 1500

Can I expect my gas mileage to improve after break in? on my new Silverado 1500
  • 20 miles isn't even warmed up really. Give it another 500 miles at least to get a feel for the mileage it will actually get.

Yours will certainly do better than that! You must be doing town miles, in cold weather, and burning winter gas, so worst case.

I've purchased 9 new trucks over the years, and though I'm not one to check closely, I've never really noticed much improvement after break-in.

  • Drive the thing. On a 2015 Rental 5.3 Suburban I got 22 hwy...forget about the lie o meter for now and just drive.

  • Need more info....

What are getting now for MPG?

    How many miles?

    What motor?

I was getting 12MPG on the lousy winter blend, 14 otherwise. Mostly city driving. Could easily get 20+ highway driving.
  • Probably not much. How's your truck configured and what sort of mileage are you seeing?
