Didn't we already settled, that future is electric?When technology of last few years is direct gasoline injection, Ford goes back to port injection.

It is an interesting choice. Still a proven technology. State of the art, no, but likely lower cost. I will be curious to see the tow numbers with this new engine.

Unfortunately, you can only get the V10 in the cab and chassis trucks. And, the only rear end available for it is 4.88. That just wasn’t going to work for me. I’d be really interested in this new motor for my next truck. They kind of hinted that there might be a boosted (turbo/super charged) version of it. That would be awesome for mountain driving. I hate to say it because I love manual transmissions too, but I bet you’ll never see another stick shift in a Superduty. :(:):)

I wonder what the gas mileage will be on the new motor.. They finally got the 460 to get some decent mileage but these new motors aren't doing much better if any..

Will the added HP and torque over last engine come at the price of fuel mileage..

Well, these are commercial trucks. Should they make one version that regular consumers can't buy rated for less? Some of the triple axle 5th wheels are well over 20k gvwr. Add on a 5th wheel bed with boxes, extra fuel, tools etc and 30k isn't that far away.

Our 2017 is rated for somewhere around 30k towing. We only go down the road at 20-21k gross, truck, camper and jeep but having the power to maintain highway speeds on long mountain passes is nice. Having reserve capability isn't a bad thing. I would rather have more power than I need than be maxed out in the slow lane with the flashers on.

Who needs a truck that can tow 30,000 pounds? Only commercial haulers. RVs are getting lighter all the time, so it is ironic that tow vehicles are increasing their capacities at the same time.
