New Tires For Tow Vehicle...

Nitto has been around a long time. I think they are an extension of Toyo. Their Terra Grapplers are almost identical to Toyo Open Country A/T in every way.

In fact, the Ram Rebel came stock with Nittos at one time and even had the tread pattern integrated into the seat fabric.

I would run E rated tires for a 7500 lb trailer and air them down to 45 or so when not loaded provided your TPMS does not complain too much. Manufacturer should provide an inflation table.

You may want to fire up another thread re: size of trailer for the truck (do not want to hijack this one). Check your door sticker for payload. At 7500 lbs you will likely have about 950 on the hitch. Add 100 for the WDH and see how you are doing payload wise.

Truck is good for the weight...tow package, low axle ratio and tow rating of 10k. Payload capacity of 1600. Just two of us traveling so not a lot of extra weight in the truck, also planned to add air bags to keep ride height the same. Trailer we are looking at is about 6400 empty. Not many options in the E rating on this size tire, found some Nitto Dura Grappler's but very expensive and never heard of Nitto brand.

cm11599ps, I'm eager to hear what you think of those new tires compared to the OEMs. How much of a MPG hit have you taken?

I wore out many, many sets of Toyo M-55 tires over 20 years and thought they were adequate...that is, until I tried a set of B. F. Goodrich Commercial T/A TRACTIONs over 10 years ago. Tread wear is much, much better, and they stick to the road like glue in the snow! I now have a 2012 Ford F-350 with an oddball size (275/70R18E) not available in the Commercial T/A Tractions. My research and observations have led me to Goodyear Wrangler DuraTracs, which I will have installed this month at Costco. Not only do they have the best deal, by far, than the local tire dealers, but there is an $80 rebate promotion on 4 Goodyear tires good until April 26th.

Finally got the new tires. :-)

OK, camping season is upon us so I finally made up my mind and went with the BFG K02's for one simple reason. They were the only LT tires I could find that fit my wheels! 275/60/20.

I dropped off my truck this evening and am having the tires mounted and an alignment done. I'll be able to pick it up after work tomorrow and then Friday I'm heading out for the first trip of the year.

Still looking around and it's hard to find tires that fit. I'm 275 60 20 and it doesn't seem like I have many options for beefier tires, especially if I want white letters which isn't a deal breaker.

Just replaced OEM BFG with Michelin Defender LTX MS. Better ride is noticeable,no need for all terrain tire. We'll see how they do
