This is very common in equipment - I'd imagine the RV word is no different.
The item up for sale is XXXX price. Needed repairs would cost 10% of that at "street price" of a regular billable repair. Potential buyer negotiates a deal with the seller, like maybe paying for parts only, in order to seal the deal. This is dependent upon / varies by the sellers profit margin and need to get the item off his lot.
Salesmen seem to believe the service department is available 24/7 with no other "paying work" to do to meet the needs of these "deals"......
