Congrats! And hey, no need to apologize for it not being a big, bad diesel dually; as you stated yourself, for your plans, it'll fit the bill nicely and that is really all that matters.
Food for thought: I have a crew cab 4x4 5.4L F250 (2008) and I re-geared to 4.30 from 3.73 and the difference was pretty remarkable with no loss of MPG whatsoever (yes, hand calculated and I was surprised myself). Cost was around $1700 for both axles. Having said that, with 3.73s you're rated to tow (IIRC) around 9,200lb so if your plans don't approach that type of weight it would probably be overkill (deeper gears get you about 2,000lb more tow rating). I mainly re-geared due to the fact that living in Phoenix, almost any direction I travel (except for south) involves nasty long mountain climbs.
I think you'll enjoy the feel of the Super Duty chassis; it is a very sturdy platform and the 5.4L, while it won't reach the summit first very often, is a very reliable and proven motor.
Again, congrats!
