The first one looks like an anti-siphon valve, required by law some places, other places not but not a bad idea.
Re: electrical surge protector. Not essential, but when you need it, you really need it. I haven't ever used one in 10 years, and never had a problem that such a device would help. YMMV.
The last picture is a photo of the ramp used to provide a dip/clog free gentle downhill slope to a waste water drain hose. It prevents a low spot where solids would lodge otherwise.
The coil of white garden hoses are the drinking-water safe hoses used to connect to city water or to fill your fresh water tank.
