As for a generator you need a 3500+ watt, 3K watt. Gen to run an a/c that will burn thru 5 gallons of gas a day, more or less. And most campgrounds have quiet hours, no generator operations between 8 PM and next morning 8 or 9 AM. Running a generator will all the time will make you very unpopular so get a quiet inverter generator, but they as still fairly noisy. Non inverter gens are noisy and can cause trouble with electronics.
I did run into one campground that provided power at 110 V which can damage your a/c. But for the most part the power is OK in campgrounds.
Where do you plan to camp anyway? You can run everything from the campground power unless you plan to camp without utilities.
