We towed 10,000+ miles with the 6 cylinder version of the 4 Runner with factory tow package. Our trailer is a Lance 1685 - 20'9", 3850# unloaded and we're guessing we're right up against 5,000# loaded. Our truck is rated for 5,000#. We didn't have any "trouble" but the truck was definitely towing the trailer - or maybe the other way around sometimes. We loved our 4 Runner and when it came time to replace it, only the fact that a Tundra actually cost less than a new 4 Runner kept us from another 4 Runner. See my blog post about towing 10,000 from Illinois to the SW US - FL, TX, NM, UT, CO and back to Illinois.

Recently we took our first trip with our replacement vehicle, a 2016 Toyota Tundra - I wrote a blog post about our observations on the differences -- you could probably put your small motorcycle in the truck bed, but there's no way our 4 Runner or our Lance 1685 could carry the bike.

Good Luck & ENJOY!
