New to RVing

Hello, Single female here, selling my house and buying an RV to see the world! I started out looking at class B's due to being more stealthy. Now, considering Class C's. Diesel Winnebago, Itasca or maybe Coachman as i want an Island Bed.
Question 1: I am not mechanical at all...should i buy new?(i read about the hiring a Mobile RV Tech), I hate to buy new as i have a dog and cat that might damage it. If i buy used, what minimum age and mileage should i get?
Question 2: I will have my animals with me. Do most campers have the ability to leave the camper on and lock the doors(with AC on) to run into a store?
Question 3: I am planning to drive the RV from Ohio, through Texas, into Mexico and down to the lower Yucatan. Am I crazy?

    My "motherly" suggestions:

ALL RV's have "issues" from time to time. You will do a LOT better by being mechanically-inclined, so that someone, somewhere, doesn't charge you to replace your Flux Capacitor. Especially if you are heading out of the country - know how things work and how to fix them.

Regarding age of the RV - I would suggest "slightly-used" - a year or two old takes a lot of bite out of that depreciation when it rolls off the lot. The problem here is that often, people who have financed the RV are upside-down financially. You need to find the person that paid cash; and now needs to upsize, etc.

Since you plan to head way south - I would strongly recommend you buy a basically-white RV, to reflect the sun's heat. Yes, most MHs have generators, and if you run this, the A/C can also run. Or - a white MH will not overheat all that quickly - unless it's a 100 degrees, I wouldn't be afraid to simply run into a store, assuming the MH was cool to start with. Ours had a Fantastic Fan, which WILL run off a 12v battery and will at least keep the MH the same temp as the outside air.

Are you crazy? It depends - have you driven there before? If you know the area and how to stay safe - then no, you're not crazy. But if this is your first adventure - then I'd strongly recommend you practice your RVing skillz in the USA or Canada, first?
