As the Subject says we have a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder V6 4x4 which has a max tow of 6000lbs with a weight distributed hitch. We have 3 children ages 2-6 at present so our current leaning is towards two double bunks as the girls can sleep together (although triple bunk options intrigue us too). No pets to worry about though.
Considering the responses you've received so far this is going to be awfully repetitive but you have too little TV for the task you have in mind. For towing any type of trailer that's likely to be running at least 500 lbs of gross tongue weight your PF offers barely enough payload capacity as it is and the situation can only get worse as your kids grow. Despite that so-called tow rating of 6000 lbs that V6 will struggle towing any full height trailer that has all the aerodynamics of a barn door and you'll quickly be wishing for more TV. I've been there, attempted to tow a 21' hybrid that typically averaged ~ 4000 lbs loaded and ready to camp with our 4.0L V6 Explorer ... sure it towed it but so too could a lawn tractor. :E In reality, out on the highway that V6 could barely get out of it's own way ... after two brief weekend trips we replaced that vehicle for towing with a 5.3L V8 Silverado. Do yourself a favour and forget about towing any full height trailer with your V6 PF ... either upgrade your vehicle OR look for something your PF can tow, such as a low profile mid-size popup.
