Thanks Tom (Jayco254).
I shouldn't say for sure that the lights didn't work. When I was pulling the trailer out, I asked my grandfather if the brake lights were on and he said "no". Fortunately, though, all but one light on the inside of the trailer works. And as far as I can tell, electrically everything seems to be in order on the interior.
Couple of question before I start tearing into it this weekend.
1. I've run the fridge since about mid-week on shore power. It was nice and cold, except for this afternoon when it started warming up. Now, to be fair, I had windows open in the trailer and AC turned off, so it was very hot in there. I wonder if the ambient air temperature was too high for it to work efficiently, even though the freezer was/is still cold. My grandfather indicated that the fridge would work better on gas (?) but I don't have any gas in the tanks. So tomorrow, after I get gas, if I try to get it going on gas and the pilot doesn't light automatically, I assume its safe to stick a lighter in there and do it?
And then I can't remember the second question...LOL
