One other consideration is the 2017 MY Super Duty is going to be all new, so you could wait and see if you like it better and if not, you could probably score a killer deal on a holdover 2016. Just something to consider.
Ordering before all the info on the 2017 MY Super Duty is released was a tough decision, but all the new tech on that truck is going to drive prices up at least another $5,000 to $7,500. The spy shots of the new design also aren't impressing me much. I also like that Ford has had 6 years to improve on the current 6.7 diesel and transmission to the point that they are virtually bulletproof. I don't really want to be the guinea pig on the new 8- or 10-speed trans that is likely going to be introduced on the new model.
Another reason I had to order now is that there is a large shortage of rear axles for the Super Duties and Ford is backlogged on carryover 2015 orders that didn't get fulfilled as well as a large increase of 2016 orders from fleets and dealers that want to have a supply of trucks on hand during the changeover. It's also rumored order banks are closing for the 2016 at the end of this month and there is almost no inventory on lots right now, so I doubt there will be many desirable holdover 2016s to choose from down the road. There are no current builds available in inventory that even come close to the configuration I want.
I may end up kicking myself for not waiting to see the unveiling of the new Super Duty, but at least I have an order locked in for a 2016 optioned exactly how I want. The official release of the 2017 is supposed to happen at the Texas State Fair next month, so if it ends up being something I can't live without, I have the option of cancelling my 2016 and ordering a 2017 instead.
