I don't recall anyone implying the OP did anything improper to the trailer, I was drawing a contrast between mfr defects and owner abuse, with reference to the OP wanting to be "fair" to the mfr.
OP, I hope you didn't get the impression I was trying to make you feel bad about the situation. Just the opposite. I was pointing things out to put the situation into perspective and that you should not feel any guilt about holding the mfr's feet to the fire, have them make a payment or two, etc.
The other comments MarkieMark32 made sound reasonable.
