Eagle Cap I have read quality went down hill.
Can you elaborate on this, as I haven't heard anything bad about the newer units. I'm seriously considering dumping my 2017 lance 1172 to buy the EC 1165. The few EC I have seen seem to be much nicer and we'll optioned that a Lance.
I liked the Eagle Cap fit and finish up to the 2015 model year and then something happened. The next two years while deciding between the EC 1165 and Host Mammoth, I saw EC workmanship drop and poor fitment showing up on the models I saw at shows and dealerships.
I also researched the common components used to build these. In the end, it is my belief there are unacceptable failures when using HappiJac, Schwintek and Heki components. Others pointed out that frame less windows catch rocks and debris more often and will chip (you can read about this in the toy hauler section where they are towed off road to a campsite or staging area). Another RV.net member pointed out the awning material on some do not have sealed edges which cause the material to quickly fray when exposed to wind.
In the end, you need find the design and features that will work for you. In our case, DW loves the dance floor and fireplace - We're even looking forward to off-season cold and wet camping with the fireplace warming up the unit and giving off the electric glow.
