When I had to replace my former F-250 that was totaled in a wreck, I knew that a new truck was out of the question. So I bought used. I had to go 200 miles from my home to find what I wanted at a price I was willing to pay (insurance settlement plus a thousand dollars) Local dealers were ridiculous, wanting me to pay $30 K for a truck with a trashed interior or a known bad turbocharger that the dealer wanted ME to pay for on top of his selling price.
If you have a good truck, hang on to it and keep it well maintained. With new truck prices approaching the stratosphere, that truck is almost as good as money in the bank.
