New truck pricing

Related Question: is this why the used market is so crazy right now? Seems like you don't save as much as you used to buying a 3 or so year old truck compared to new. Maybe I'm just old, but I seem to remember buying a 3 year old truck was a pretty huge savings over new. Now, you are almost better off special ordering and waiting for better warranty, maybe better financing. . . I know you aren't talking used, but maybe another symptom of the market right now.

There was news a few weeks ago that Ford had received a large shipment of chips and is trying to get thousands of trucks to consumers very soon. I know that you are looking at a GM product but supply anywhere eases stress everywhere.

Personally, I don't expect the Tesla truck to have much impact on the market for at least 9 months. However, we are in a bubble right now and anything bought now will depreciate rapidly when supply does catch up.

I was thinking that exact same thing seeing pictures of rows incomplete vehicles waiting for chips/etc. With the end of the model year approaching and knowing Tesla has over a million preorders for their fast coming Cybertruck (maybe not something us RVers would want but still digging into truck sales overall), it seems like the legacy manufacturers will feel the need to chop prices dramatically to move the backlog once they obtain parts to finish them. I kind of doubt finishing those trucks is only a matter of plugging in a part and shipping them. I would think the vehicle would still need final inspections back on the line and then need to be loaded and shipped. I wouldn't think those trucks would be at dealers until at least September when buyers would be expecting to see 2022s. With GM and Ford teetering, this might be the end of one of them.

2 thoughts here. 1. Order what you want and get it the way you want it. Then wait. 2. I agree that w/ all the trucks sitting around (both Ford and GM.....dunno about Ram), I would tend to think that the mfr's would want to unload them ASAP once they get the "parts" in, therefore discounting them. My $.02.
