New Truck Search

In today's age of the internet, who knows what is available to the regular guy. So I ask here.

When I go to a Ford dealership and they don't have what I'm looking for, they can pull up on their computer other dealer stock. They can put in parameters such as F350 DRW, Lariat, Silver, Black Interior and on and on. Then it locates trucks at other dealers that meet those specs.

But if I want that truck, they want to go get it and sell it to me. They won't bargain as much because they lose the holdback money and they have to pay someone to drive somewhere to get it. I'd much rather deal with the dealership that has the truck to start with. That's how I bought my last truck.

Is their any way we can access that network? Sure, there's autotrader but not nearly all of the dealers out there use that.

The Big 3 websites all operate in similar fashion, but their concept of close match can be thousands more than you're looking to spend. Think 'closest match' to them is like you're looking for say, an F250 XL, and the closest matches will return everything from that to F-250 Platinums.:B They are after all F-250's.
  • Ford website does offer that function. Build and price section, then search local inventory as mentioned above. And as far as the dealer not wanting to make as good of a deal if ordered, sounds like you should use another dealer to me. Rebates, incentives, standard percentage off the top, etc.should be honored whether ordered or off the lot.
  • I factory ordered my 2016, just as good as any offer on the lot.
  • Go to Ford's web site. Build the truck you want then search dealer inventory. Select the one you want, contact the dealers fleet Dept and make your best deal. The internet is great for shopping now days.

  • I just received my ordered to spec truck from Ford and the dealer told me if nothing on the lot fit the bill, they would order it in and the deal would be just as good. But I'm a multi car customer with this dealer so they tend to treat me right.
