Well I finally decided to upgrade my 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Duelly to a NEW 2014 Dodge Ram Diesel Laramie Longhorn, crew cab 4x4 long box to haul my Lance 2013 1172. I did not get the air suspension on the truck and I had Torklift stabil loads and Firestone air bags on old truck. So my question is this: What if any additions to the new truck would make hauling the 1172 better than the way the truck comes equipped from the factory. I am going to put on torklift truck tiedowns, fastguns, and super hitch. So what if any suspension enhancements would be recommended with this truck? I deleted my signature because I need to update it....

The same type of enhancements work on the more capable truck, but you may not need them.

Before adding air bags you might want to consider timbren's so you don't have to mess with airbags. If the 2014 Ram's increased their suspension in the leaf pack, then the timbren's would probably be all you'd need (and they're easy to install and forget about). I have the same camper on my 2011 Ram 3500 and it carries it beautifully.

I would load the TC first and make a run down the road and then make a decision if any thing needs to be done. No cents/sense wasting money on something thats not needed.

Yea dont do what i did...spend $500 for a set of air bags and then never use them. I'd try the set up first with nothing and take it from there. The new trucks are much beefier than the older ones. If anything Id first start with Stable Loads.

Assuming DRW, you'll only need to get the overloads to engage earlier. Either DIY or by the kit.

I just started truck camping last January after lurking in the forum for years.

My vehicle at the time, 2011 F350 crew cab dually, had the dreaded notice in the glove box that a slide in camper was NOT recommended for my truck.

So I bought one anyway. :B

Actually drove to near Denver to look at the one I eventually got.

Folks at Five Star RV said all I needed were the upper Stableloads, which they installed for me.

Truck handled that camper very well.

Now I'm putting the same StableLoads on my new truck, that is whenever I get a bolt/nut problem solved... Grrrrr.

So anyway, another vote for StableLoads.

Start with Stableloads. That might be all you need.

It's better to start with less expensive upgrades, and stop there if needed.

After 2 different truck campers and 3 trucks, currently an F-350 dually, having gone thru air bags, helper leafs, and other enhancements, The best I have felt is my current... torklift stable loads on the over loads springs and went with extra leafs in the main spring pak put on at a spring shop, and a four pak overload in place of the single ford stock... steel is best. with a camper ready for the road at well over 4.3k, the springs have contact with 8 places on the frame instead of four places.

I don't agree there are better options than air bags. I do agree there different options.

Don't add airbags unless you really need them. There are better options.

I believe you cannot go wrong by adding stable loads . They work great on any truck .
