New Truck tailgate camera

Actually two questions here:
1. How are we feeling about the Ram 3500 with coil springs instead of leafs?
2. How are we dealing with the cameras in our tailgates when we try and remove the tailgate?
  • 1. Are you sure the 3500 has coil springs and not just an airbag option? Regardless, leaf springs provide better support for heavy loads since the spring pack itself provides resistance to change as the leaves have to slide past each other as they change radius. A coil spring has no such resistance though it does provide a tad bit softer ride because of such.

    2. The camera is fairly easy to unplug once you get the knack of it. When I ordered my truck and my father did the same, we both ordered it without cameras. However, while I have no regrets, my father says he wishes he had gotten the cargo camera to help with the loading of the TC. Difference is I have a SRW so can easily sight down the bed while he has a DRW so doesn't have as nice a reference point.

One option for the tail gate camera is I had considered getting it so I could get a replacement camera for about $200. Would have mounted it to the back of the camera and plugged into the same connection as the tailgate. I did not because at the time, you couldn't have it turned on going down the road which I wanted to monitor the boat when I tow it. So I was planning on using after market instead but haven't added it yet.

Edit: Just checked the RamTrucks web site and the 3500 is only offered with leaf springs, however it is offered with an air suspension which is the same as adding after market air bags. Only the 2500 is offered with the coil springs according to RamTrucks.com.
