It's aggravating when running through rolling hills (bumps) on the backroads 30-40mph. The trans gets confused sometimes doing this. I have had my foot on the floor in 3rd with the TC locked and running 1,100 RPMs. When it finally decides to gear down it does it violently and just about the time I crest the bump to go down the other side.
Can't remember u have AISIN or 68RFE? also are you running the TowHaul mode?

I had the same exact thing going on with my 2013 with Aisin & 3.42's.
Remember, I tow 3-4,000# over my gcvwr. That's why I'm saying they will have to do something if they ever raise the tow rating on the 3.42 trucks. - Cummins12V98Explorer III
