Going from 8,000 BTU to 12,000 BTU means you will be pulling a lot more power. Is your trailer set up with a 30A power cord ?
"Absorption" refrigerators do not work well in high ambient heat situations. With the cost of inverters and batteries coming down, absorption refrigerators are going to be phased out. And with better and better brushless DC motor compressors these will become more common. Even compressor refrigerators need to be near level to work properly.
