New TT, CO2 detector keeps going off?

Unless we trade it in today (not likely) it is permanent. We will deal with the problems as we go along. There is a ceiling panel delaminating and a recall on the awning, the dealer is coming out to fix both. I'm happy with the camper, but the upkeep is going to be more work than I expected. The dealer was having problems with the smoke & CO detectors in my MH. First thing I did was throw them cheapo detectors in the trash & replace them. Too dangerous in any RV without good detectors. I don't know where they get those cheap detectors. You can't even buy those cheapo detectors at the dollar store.:h

Exactly my suggestion.

As far as the condensation, open a vent farther and run the furnace. Numerous people sleeping in an exclosed camper emit a lot of water vapor if there is not enough circulation of air, your going to have the condesation on the windows and/or dampness issues.

If you don't have a vent cover like a maxair or fantastic, you are quickly going to learn why these are so popular. These covers that cover the little, thin, and after a while brittle vent covers that come standard, protect those thin covers from being damaged by hail and UV and most importantly, allow you to open the vents nearly all the way without risk of rain getting in. Buy and install one, maybe over the bathroom vent that has a fan and your issue is solved.

Yes, cheap as in low end. I would go as far as saying it is junk. I was never offered upgrades. My old camper was 100 percent better. I will buy a new CO sector and run the furnace on high for a while.

The heat exchanger of the furnace is heavily coated with vegetable oil on both sides during assembly to stave off corrosion. It can take a fair amount of time to burn all this off and it maybe whats causing the alarm.
I would open the windows and set the stat to a high temp and let it run 30~ 60 minutes.
The dealer should have done this prior to delivery.

Fans circulating the air will help with the condensation. This your first time using furnace? Not unusual for that alarm to go off - it should quit after several days of use. Other things about the CO2 - if something is covering it (a towel or sheet hanging over the side of the bench, etc.) it can give a false alarm, and spraying Lysol or bug spray around it can also set it off.

1. It's "CO", not "CO2".

2. Carbon Monoxide (CO)detectors are notorious for being set off by the off-gassing of new materials in new RV's. Mattresses, furniture, paneling, etc.... That "new car smell" is the gas they are sensing.

3. CO detectors are inexpensive. Replace it for peace of mind.

My detector also beeps on low battery voltage. Are you plugged into shore power? I'd turn on the heat and keep pressing the `mute' button.
