Today we test drove a 2017 Ford F350 6.7, CC,LB, DRW 4X4 KING RANCH. We currently have a 2004 F350 V10 CC LB 4X4 SRW XLT. With 13 years of technology advancements between these two trucks, I was expecting the 2017 to ride smoother, quieter and with more power. It had more power for sure, but the 04 was much smoother and quieter. And lastly, the ride of the 2017 was stiff and rough compared to the 04. Is this the ride of all DRW trucks? If we looked at a 2017 SRW F350, would it ride similar to our 04?

Ride quality is greatly affected by any optional payload packages.King Ranch has extra insulation for quietness.

Well older gas to newer diesel should be about the same sound level.Ride the 2004 likely had a GVWR of about 11,000# to 11,500#, the 2017 has a 14,000# GVWR. Please check your rear tire pressure the unloaded rear tires can be run as low as 35 psi , full load will be 65 psi. I know the sidewall states max pressure 80 psi, but the four tires only need 65 psi to carry the max axle rating.

It's a dually with 14k GVWR.. Running empty, of course it's gonna ride a bit "rough" (probably not as rough as my dads 71 F250.. That thing will knock the fillings out of your mouth!)... Put a load on it and compare to your 04 and report back.. ha, ha.. Compared to the rest of the vehicles in your garage, I'd say you are pretty used to a 'cushy' ride?? :)Good luck!Mitch

Is this the ride of all DRW trucks?
Depends. A dually will always ride worse than a SRW.....BUT, if you were to drive a GM dually, it will ride better because of the IFS.
A friend of mine had a new Ram when I got my present Silverado. We took turns driving each others truck on washboard gravel roads. He was amazed at my trucks ride, and I was shocked about just how bad his was.... The primary difference between the two was the solid front axle vs the Independant front suspension.
The ford should fare the same.
