New wheels and tires

Well, the camper is 10 years old, and I still have 3 of the original 5 tires. 1 we lost to a nail, the other had a blowout but the remaining three are cracking and I don't trust another trip on them.

I'm going to replace wheels+tires, and found Southwest wheel's trailerpart.com, which is located in Dallas.

I can get a bias ply 205/75R14 with an 14x6 wheel mounted for 500 shipped to my door. I normally wouldn't replace the wheels, but they are getting pretty rusty because my dog insists pissing on them frequently.

Anyone find good deals on a full set of wheel/tires? Tractor supply and northern tool seem to have steel wheels only, and at the same price point. Might as well prevent any more rusting and go with aluminum.

You DO realize that just because the trailer TIRE is old or worn out you DON'T HAVE TO REPLACE THE RIMS?

    You simply buy new tires.

The rust is easily taken care of with a wire wheel, some rust converter and a spray bomb of paint.

Additionally, you will not be happy with BIAS PLY tires, they are cheaper because they will not last as long. BIAS ply tires operate at a much higher temperature and will have MORE DRAG. This added drag will affect your towing mileage a bit also.

GO TO A REAL TIRE SHOP, no need to buy new rims and a decent tire shop will be able to order the tires you want if they do not have them in stock.
  • I hope that is all 4 , to your door.... Try trailer-tire and wheels.... I put 4 radials in the shopping cart for giggles... I included center caps, valve stems, lug nuts, balanced, and shipping...
