I bought an Aliner Scout (I wanted minimum accessories, to the point where I had the fridge and sink removed after buying it) and love it. At the time I had a 4cyl Terrain and it towed surprisingly well. I've since moved up to a 6cyl Tacoma.
The first time I saw an Aliner in person I was tent camping and someone who was camping with an Aliner allowed me to look inside. Like most people, I think, I assumed because of the sloped roofs it would be extremely limited in space on the ends where the dinette and sofabed sit. I found it to be plenty comfortable.
I don't know that they would do well being dragged down dirt roads for too long. The fact of the matter is that they are entry level campers and the finish quality isn't all that great.
Having said that, I wanted something simple and uncomplicated that would get me off the ground and tow easily. I think I found that in the Aliner.
