My old 1995 Layton got to where I was spending at least $100.00 on Repair’s per camping trip. Several trips were multiple hundreds.
Old campers are great and can be a bargain, but Your $2500 budget may be off.
Our last camper was a pup. We never got cold in that camper. The propane heater worked great as well as the heated mattresses.

Just keep your eyes open, this thing will cost you a lot of time and money. It is a very cool project.
