They should've paid you $500 to take it away.
What a bunch of brutal and unneeded comments and opinions along a bunch of "assumptions".
You ALL should be ashamed at slamming folks who are not in the grand position you all are in.
Not everyone can afford a million dollar RV with gold leaf inlays on the toilet seat.
There ARE folks like myself and perhaps the OP who can SEE past the rot and damage and execute a rehab.
RVs and camping in general is a HOBBY to 99% of the RV owners and as a HOBBY one must decide as to how much "budget" there is to go around for said HOBBY.
Myself, while I COULD afford a million dollar RV with gold leaf inlays on the toilet seat, I CHOOSE to be WISER on my spending habits and forgo buying a new RV and the payments and interest that goes with the payments..
How about being a bit more supportive in a CONSTRUCTIVE WAY.
Yeah, I bought a rotted out 30yr old TT, then gutted it, resided it, created a new layout that I LIKED and built all new cabinets and so on.
Yeah, Paid $700 for the heap, put nearly $5K in materials and countless hrs but hey, it IS BETTER BUILT NOW THEN WHEN IT ROLLED OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE!
Not to mention, I KNOW my TT from top to bottom, inside and out and there is NOTHING that I cannot fix cheaper and faster than a dealer.
I have no plans on selling and it IS the LAST RV I INTEND TO BUY.
I think the OP has a great foundation, which is a good place to start, the OP has a blank canvas and their imagination plus some work and some cash they too will enjoy camping their own way on their terms.
HERE is my rebuild.
HERE is another document I put together which might contain some helpful hints..
You can also download them to your PC for future reference just in case the link dies..
Take lots of photos, document it well, down the road the documentation might be helpful if you need to fix things.
I wish the OP all the best.
