It would be nice if the new Ram HD's have the new EGR-Free Cummins 6.7L that were revealed last year. One less emissions device is one less headache to deal with down the road, and the EGR and cooler is the worst.
Cummins reveal EGR-free new engine lineup
The engine will be free of any emissions systems. All will be downstream.
Yeah it has already been in our class 7 Peterbilt and Navistar trucks for a while now. The trucks do use a little more DEF, but I will take that over an EGR being clogged and checking the engine. Next year we should start seeing the rest of the EGR-Free engines in the rest of our lineup.
I'm assuming fuel economy will be an improvement, but what about power?
Edit: Duh.... Missed the article. Not sure how the start/stop feature will work in stop in go driving but perhaps its part of how they meet the emissions requirements.
Engine not running = No emissions to worry about.
