Niagara Falls trip--part 1
Todd and I decided we wanted to take our son to see the Falls this year for our vacation as he has never been there. Since it was a last minute decision, we did not have passports so we stayed on the US side. However, there was so much to do and see where we were that we probably wouldn't have had time to visit the Canadian side. That means another road trip is in our future :).
We left around 4am, and it was a beautiful trip up through PA and on into NY.

rest area in NY

We made it to Four Mile Creek State Campground around 3pm.

Site 237, across the road from Lake Ontario

C-130 flew by several times

Rocky shoreline

The French and Indian War ((1756-1763) started because France and England were competing heavily for territory in the new world. One of the most important French strongholds was Fort Niagara, which is located at the mouth of the Niagara River. Whoever had control of this fort controlled access to the Great Lakes and the westward route. "Le Petite Marais" ("The Little Marsh"), otherwise known as "Four Mile Creek" since it is four miles east of the fort, is where the British put to shore, dug trenches for their cannons, and lay siege to Fort Niagara.
Now it's so beautiful and serene

Marshmallows...

...and campfires
