I have been looking at those pics for the last half hour and I have to say I'm quite intrigued....The closed tailgate TC is not something you ever see anymore....I remember 34 years ago a older couple in the neighborhood bought one of those new 1980 Ford F-250s That was a dramatic change from the previous years...it was completely restyled and was the first time Ford went crazy with a lot of plastic components and trim inside the cab...prior to that a Ford cab was pretty much a steel cab inside.I also remember the truck had 8 lug wheels but did not have full floating axles....it was in a sense a "big F-100". They eventually got away from that later on ...Then revisited it in the late 90s....My Fleetwood Angler brochure shows a 1998 "F-250 Light" on the front cover.
The older couple after taking delivery of there new truck promptly bought a brand new TC and one of the things I specifically remember was the tail gate was always on the truck and closed...The TC obliviously did not extend at all past 8 feet...I always wondered what would happen if they were both inside and someone closed the gate...it could make for a dangerous situation.
I was a truck driver for 24 years and remember seeing a lot of TCs on the road in my early career that let you leave the gate on....I never of course see that anymore.
Whats cool about the TC in the pictures is the door swings in so nobody is going to be "trapped". I love the porch light and the whole design of the thing is interesting...I too would love to see inside !
