Nice to Have Reassurance (on purchase)

Was at the local rv show today and went through over 200 rigs and am definitley satisfied that I made the right purchase when I picked up my Dutchmem last year. Not only were prices higher, the quality went down and all of the interior styling is very dark now, which I hate.

TAFN just thought I'd share my 4 hours of gratitude.
  • When we were thinking of ordering our '07 ROO, we were going to get the white cabinets and stainless appliances - loved the open look. Ended up changing entirely to the standard oak with blue interior - swore I hated that blue, but it sorta grew on us....loved the oak cabinets. Now with the 2604, the cherry cabinets but have a lighter green "Seagrass" upholstery which keeps it lighter. Not a big fan of the cherry cabinets and darker upholstery, but just MHO. You're right, it'll cycle back and we'll be looking at the lighter colors in a few years, but if they want to skip the dusty rose and blue it's ok with me. We were around back in the..... when you HAD to have orange in your house. Now it's back, but DH says he'd rather pass on it this time.

We werevthere during the day Friday, nice and quiet, not likely the case today.

only noticed about 10 TCs, but wasnt looking for them either, could be more.
  • I don't care for the current dark colors - it's dark enough around here and in the forests where we camp.
I think it's just a trend though, kinda like black or white appliances. After a few years they will shift back to lighter and then a few years later it will change again. Unless we see another "dusty rose" or blue period.

Went to the show Thursday too. I am the opposite. I think quality has improved, colors have improved and features have improved. Makes me want a new model.

All depends where you are looking. I noticed 3 out of 4 storage doors did not seal when viewing into the pass thru through the laundry chutes, window seals that were not fully pressed in, cabinet latches that were off by over 1/2" and would not latch, drawer slides that were installed so the stop on extension on each side were offset by 1", major gaps in caulking on the exterior, outside showers that were 3/4"off level...all-in-all downright atrocious. Cabinet and couch finish was nicer though (mostly because the darker colours hide more), but I do agree there were more features.
  • Dutchmen's are good campers. Our first TT was a Dutchmen. I wish we still had it, but it was small and we continued to "grow" and it did not. No regrets though, we love our current camper too.
