- brianpearceExplorerI had my left rear Nitto Dura Grappler blow out on the freeway a half hour away from home this August while towing my fifth wheel. Scared the heck out of me and my wife. Luckily there was a big pull off area and we were able to quickly slow and pull off safely. I couldn't tell you why it blew, but tires were all at 80psi when I got the rig ready for the trip. We got the spare put on, finished our trip out to the lake and I called the tire place to get a replacement for me. Drove to town during the week to get the new one put on. $5000 of cosmetic damage to the truck, no damage to fifth wheel.
I've had the tires four years with no problems and would get them again. We were just glad for our blowout to be close to home/civilization rather than during out 4000 road trip with the camper early in the summer to Glacier, Yellowstone, Tetons where we were in very remote places for many miles. This was my first blowout of any kind on any vehicle I've driven over the last 25 years since getting my drivers license. - My Nitto Terra Grapplers are the best tires I have ever ran with ... BUT that is my opinion... I have had several sets on my F-350 for at least 8 years with no issues... I have the stock tires on my 2013 f-150 and on my second blow out... Maybe I hit something,,, maybe I did not??? Either way flat is flat... Joe

Do your own search, think you will find your one of the very few that are disappointed with Nitto tires. 99% chance something punctured your tire, you like many say "I didn't hit anything" you can't see and aren't looking at the road 100% of the time and at 70mph even 40 mph you can't see that small nail or piece of metal in the road.
I like Nitto but also sell and like many other brands..... Every brand has a bad experience behind it by someone.... I'm not belittling your experience just saying better chance a puncture of some sort than a defect. Email me the pics and info on the tire to jeff@qualitytire.com and I will forward them to Nitto myself. - 2006blackmaxExplorerABC from va. - 45RicochetExplorerYou might take the time to post the entire story and photos here without the DMax site. I was lazy and didn't sign into it and many aren't members so another no go.
No doubt, tires can blow and that's a great reason for a DRW TV :B
I've never been a big Nito fan either, but...... - abc40kidsExplorerOk, I read your post but did not see the tire pic. You had a blowout at 70mph and you automatically blame that on Nitto??? I'm guessing you hit something in the road that blew the tire out and from there the weight of the truck on the wheel shredded the tire and it started destroying your truck.
I have Nitto's on my dually and have sold them for as long as they have been around. They are excellent tires and NO tire is exempt from debris in the road that can't be seen at 70mph.
Sorry for your tire failure but people on this forum are quick to blame the tire before other more likely reasons. Your tire closer if not at the max will perform better as far as gas mileage, tire durability and hold up better to road debris.
I sell all kinds of tires, do your own search and see Nitto gets GREAT reviews and hands down my best seller! - Shadow_CatcherExplorerReport failure to the NHTSA
- TachdriverExplorerCould not open photos without getting an account with that forum. Glad to hear you are all okay.
