I know the obvious answer is, it depends on where you camp, but I'm just wondering if people wish they got it, or have it and seldom use it. The trailer I'm looking at has no AC but does have fantastic fans. Thanks all!

In Texas, it would be a deal breaker. In BC, I don't know. We had two RVs in Michigan, neither had air conditioning, and we used them in the summer, one a travel trailer, one a pop-up camper. The twenty years I lived there, none of our houses had air conditioning either.If you are thinking about taking the trailer to south Texas in the summer, no air conditioning would be a problem. Living in that climate now, I simply refuse to go "camping" at the time of year when the activity requires sitting in a plastic box with mechanical cooling. But you could have another RV use in mind, for which air conditioning makes more sense, e.g. motel substitute for traveling.

I really like have an AC. I don't have one in my home. It can easily reach 85-90 inside the house. But with fans going, it doesn't seem to bother me as long as humidity doesn't get bad, which happens during our thunderstorms. In the trailer, 70-75 bothers me. I guess close quarters affects it more. Add humidity, and I'd rather go home than sit in the trailer. So I end up outside a lot. But if I need to be inside for any reason, I'd much prefer an AC. Deal breaker? Not if the price is cheap enough that it would offset the cost of adding one.

We always camp in the shade in heavily wooded sites. We do most of our camping in the spring and fall. But there are are times during the summer when we would be miserable camping without the AC. Two years ago during a Michigan summer the temperature was over 100.We would have had to go home without the AC. Ask people who live in your area what they do.Perhaps you only do mountain camping but we were very warm during an August we spent camping in BC.

Would be a deal-breaker in my book. To be fair, we've used the AC very little this year but on our recent trip through New England last month there were some times when it was absolutely necessary. JMHO

would I own a car or house without AC? NO. why would I then want to own a RV without?

Do they even make RV's without them now? We had a truck camper as a kid without AC, (Had an evap) was hot. I wouldn't have a rig without AC and a "proper" generator to run it if needed.

OP,

If you ever desire to do some traveling here in the states and go below the border states, you will want AC. You may not use it all the time but better to have it. Heck, I live at just under 8k feet and it was 85 outside today. Sometimes you never know.

There will be times when you wish you had 2 AC's. If you don't camp above 100 degrees, then it won't matter.

Today was a relatively cool day here (heat index around 100 degrees) a few days ago it was 107 degrees. It's 7:00pm now and it's still 97 degrees out!

You won't be camping or living here without AC. For the elderly it could be fatal.

I work outside every day all year , I can do with out the A/C . My wife works in the A/C , I gave in and got a camper that has it .

We camp 8-9 months a year and it would be a deal breaker for us.

Never use it, turn it in the driveway to keep it in running condition.

As a tent and PUP camper I alway though an AC was going a bit overboard.

However, when we bought the tin can we call our TT I was really glad we have it.

With only five windows that open partway, it is nothing like the 360 degrees of screens in the PUP.

For us AC is a must if you are parked in a sunny campsite.

Problem with those is venting. In my trailer, there'd be no good place to vent it. So choice of trailer and types of windows would be more of a concern if I was planning to go that route. Just a thought

Bought one when my home a/c wasn't working right. Needs about 4" x 8" to vent. The unit itself is bulky, though.
