Ours would do the exact same thing as you described. I would not make a decision until you plug the trailer into a regular campground 30 amp pedestal.
Evidently our 15 amp house current did not have enough to start the compressor. It ran fine in the campground.
We had the same experience..
Our A/C didn't like the 15a I tried to use so...
I plugged our rig into a 20a circuit at our house and the A/C worked fine just as it did in campgrounds...
