No A/C plugged in to 15A at home

Hello folks, I just purchased a used travel trailer and everything is working so far except the A/C unit. I am plugged into 15A power at my home, I know the A/C unit is 20 or 30amp. Does this mean I can't run the A/C at home on a 15A circuit? It seems like the fan works and the compressor turns on but no cold air even after a few minutes.

  • im not sure if the a/c works, but wasn't sure if i can troubleshoot it correctly without 30A service. the fan turns on and i think i hear the compressor turn on as well. we turned just the A/C on with nothing else on, no breakers tripped in the house or TT.
  • From my understanding (FWIW) I believe many draw about 20 amps at startup. I can run my 13,500 on a normal 15 or 20 amp circuit, as long as I don't turn anything else on. If you draw too much for your circuit, it should trip a breaker in the house. Are all breakers on in the trailer?
