People who buy new don't want them. Drive by any dealer and see what's on the lot. - lbrjetExplorerThere are far more cars than trucks/SUV's in my garage at work. Someone still wants them.

February 28 2020 GM will shut down the plant that produces the Impala, Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT-6 and retool the plant to build electric pickups.
Better build a Supercharger network first if they want to compete with Tesla.
Stainless steel body wouldnt hurt either,Im tired of undercoating my old Silverado frame every year to keep rust at bay.
After forty years driving Chevys my next truck will be Tesla Cybertruck most likely, their tech is years ahead of anyone.
Then you just keep waiting for Elon to get his truck to you. Hopefully you will be able to insure the vehicle at a reasonable cost, and have replacement parts available. - free_radicalExplorer

Growing up we used to think of a Pontiac Bonneville as an absolute monstrosity.
Now park one next to Lexus and the Pontiac looks small in comparison. - drsteveExplorer

They want to build what sells, and full size sedans are not it. No surprise...
I just read that the domestic automakers consider the SUV body style to permanently replace the sedan. People like the upright seating and better visibility in the SUV, plus more cargo capacity.

I'm going to buy a vehicle soon and the Taurus is on the short list. The majority of my driving would be short trips without many traffic light stops. To the guys that have them what do you think the mileage would be on three mile trips?
I've been considering a mid-size just because of the mileage but really don't want to.
DW gets 22-24 to work and back. It is not far. but is stop and go. IMOP. you cannot do better than a Taurus. It is actually on the Lincoln platform. Just did a 1100 mile round trip. Couldn't ask for a better ride. GPS works great, and you don't have to pay for a service to use it. - BarabooBobExplorer IIII grew up on muscle cars in the 60's and 70's. My dad drove Caprices and Olds 88's. I would rather drive just about any car built after 2000 than one of the old vehicles. Most of them were lucky to get 100,000 miles on them before they were junk. My dad's 74 Caprice got a whopping 12 mpg average with 15 on a good day on the highway.
I get more HP and a better ride out of my F150. By the way, my 2011 F150 has 190,000 miles on it and it runs great. We towed a TT over 7000 miles this fall and averaged 13 mpg including a majority of our driving being in the Rockies.
