I wish I could run my A/C off the battery! ;)
I got two 6 volt golf cart batteries and installed a 600 watt pure sine wave inverter, with a automatic transfer switch. All outlets are live all the time. It is super convenient. The clock on the microwave keeps time, all three TVs and the satellite dish work, asst things like dog collars are being charged as needed.etc.. And the reason that prompted this install... The automatic Sattelite dish will stow itself should I forget to do it. It needs AC power to do this. The signal that triggers it is when the brake light comes on.
Naturally, all high draw stuff won't work with 600 watts. The fridge and HWH are on gas, and the microwave/AC can't be used with out starting up a generator or two.
Should we forget, the overload on the invertor trips and needs to be reset..Easy enough, but once used to it,,, not a problem.
I don't think that you ran your A/C off the battery.

I didn't say I did. Just the opposite.
Actually, you did. Look at Doug33's post that you quoted and then the first line of your post. Later you said you can't run the AC off the inverter. That's incorrect because that's exactly what you are doing.
A/C = Air Conditioner
AC = Alternating Current
You can see why it's easily confused.
This thread is talking about alternating current powering the outlets off of the battery.
Is there any confusion about that?
As for your definitions...Those are yours not mine.
I think Doug was talking about alternating current, not the Air Conditioner...But no matter, I plainly stated that high draw items couldn't be run with 600 watts..
And the only reason I did is so that people wouldn't slam me for not making it clear, when it is obvious to anyone that really thinks about it.
Nit pickers.
