I am puzzled why you would not want to use your Fridge and instead go to extra steps and expense while avoiding turning it on. Are you trying to save the propane or electricity it would use?
Like you, I like finding products I like and am familiar with. Using the Fridge is also another cabinet to store things, whether on or not. I am one of those people that never turns mine off. Mine has essentially been working for almost 5 years of continuous use with no problems.
Sounds like you have a good plan, none the less.

I love my fridge and don't have a problem using it but I hate to have it stocked and running all the time. Would waste a lot of food should it shut off and I am not around.
On the other hand with the non refrigerated items I have the food and do not need to fill the fridge so the only gear I have to load are my computers, cameras and myself.
What do you run your fridge set on (12V,110, Propane)?
As for warm juice / milk I am happy to just have anything with me. After a lot of years backpacking and surviving with bare bone supplies this feels like heaven and if I find myself on the road for more that a few hours to a day I usually stock up and turn on the fridge.
