Thanks for the information from everyone, I have gotten a couple additional good ideas. I really am not against the fridge just some days no time to grab stuff to put in it, or some days I do not know that I will be overnighting till I am in bed. Once I am sure I will be needing the food the next day I can turn the fridge on to get cold drinks for the next day.
I forgot about the Thrive food. Had a supplier in town but they moved Think I will grab a couple more backpackers meals to have just in case from the local outdoors store.
When I was thinking about the Thrive food I remembered that I ate all my dried beef jerky, will have to stock up on that again.
Coolers would work but again it is having the time or notice to take it. As a side note some of the coolers that are available are AMAZING for keeping ice and things cold - expensive but worth it. A friend has one that he travels to the coast and loads up on salmon (a good price in the fall) adds some dry ice and comes back home. Will keep the salmon cold for 7 days before he has to reload on ice.
