noisy generators
I have a fiber glass cap on my pickup. Cost being a factor, my thought was to buy a cheaper generator like a "Champion" and crank it on inside the cap with an opened window to keep the noise level dow...

We have a Champion 3500/4000 and it is easy starting and dependable. Even though it is only a few DBs louder than some MH on board generators, I just can't see using it in a campground unless everyone else is sitting in their rig running their generators.
We had a Honda EU 3000 next to us last trip. Much quieter but don't believe it when they say you can't hear it, I could even in the trailer.
Champion does have their 3100i inverter generator that runs around $900. This spring I believe they are releasing a updated version with electric start and the ability to combine them. That's what I will be looking to get if we ever replace the 3500.
