norcold ref mess up?

I was out camping one weekend and caught the norcold ref reading showed up as "C". I check the manual book and it said the battery is low. I use the battery check/tool and my battery is full or fully charged. but the monitor reading on the stove vent said battery is dead. I use the lights and water pump no problem. norcold is doing fine the ice is hard and food is cold. but what Im I missing? also when I plug in the electric the monitor shows full.
HELP!

I had the guy with the voltage box came. he check the battery and its good. about 13.0 He thinks its the monitor that's not working right. cuz the water pump runs full power and the lights seem fine. so do I go replace the monitor? or makes no differ?

You can get your own voltage box for about $5 online to make checks on things like this. Very useful tool. I have an amperage box too ;)

When you measured the battery voltage at the terminals, was it between 13 - 14 volts?

It wouldn't be that high unless it was charging or just fresh off the charger. 13.1V is about the max you would measure on a 100% charged battery a few minutes after disconnecting from the charger. A 90% charged battery will read around 12.8V with no loads connected.
  • I wouldn't think that the systems were smart enough to talk to each other. Bad sensor on the monitor causes frig to throw a code? A weak ground would allow some stuff to work. When you measured the battery voltage at the terminals, was it between 13 - 14 volts?
  • I assume you are connecting the battery tester directly to the battery terminals and hence getting a real reading of the battery state.

Could you have a poor connection from the battery to the camper electrics? I.e. when anything draws current it causes a voltage drop across the poor connection and gives the impression to anything measuring the voltage on the down-stream side of that poor connection that the battery has very low charge or is dead?

    Steve.
  • Have you tried a RESET on the front panel should be in the manual, just because? Try running on propane and see what happens. Do a complete shut down, wait a moment then turn back on. Do you know the back of refer reset procedure on the board, I know mine and it works all the time if there is a code. Just some thoughts. Good luck!
