Ok, I checked out Westport/Union Landing State Beach, but it's not the one I remember. "Travelling" 1.4 miles south on Google Earth, I do see an area that might be the one I'm thinking of. 39 30'9.73N 123 46'54.91W. I believe if you go a 1/4 mile south of it you would be at what used to be a KOA. I'll have to dig out my paper maps and see if I can reconcile Google Earth to landmarks, or maybe GE does it but I don't know how to use it. Thanks to all for your Hwy 1 advice.
