Civil War reenactment sounds really awesome but there is just one campground nearby and I would venture that campsite availability will be sucked up by that event.
Uvas remains my top pick just because it's easy to do a large group of vehicles and ensure that everyone has their own place. It also has many waterfalls in the area with some great hiking trails that I have yet to explore that I think people might like. That being said, we don't have to do the event in the Bay Area. I love the Sierras as well and if we did it for at least 3 nights, I have another group Campground in mind in the Sierras that could work. I'll do my research this week and see if I can select something that could work well
The important thing I need to know is that people remain committed regardless if the campsite isn't their prefered spot. At this time we are just discussing but before I can commit personal funds to reserve a group site, I'll need to know that people are committed.
