When we went to Roaring Camp, we had no idea there was going to be a civil war reenactment. We didn't make reservations either. Camped within a few hundred feet of the battle field too!
Most people I guess, just go there for the day.

Here's a link to their home page. Lots of group camping it seems for various clubs, so a camper group shouldn't be too much for 'em;

However, there is a lot of poison oak in the campground area.
