Had a similar issue. Radiator on my 2006 Chevy. Had radiator drained by removing bottom hose and anti-freeze changed at home. Live in Southeast Texas. Went to Phoenix, Camp Pendleton and at the last rest area in Arizona headed back east after a month, I pulled over to use the rest room. Truck idling and walking the dog. Looked around and antifreeze running out from under the truck. Shut it off and found that the lower hose had come off. Luckily the o ring was still there.
Truck driver had a gallon of antifreeze. Re-installed the hose never had another issue.
