Is that truck rated to carry that camper weight?? Looks like a short bed truck without dully wheels and I doubt it can handle that!!
If you're talking about the OP's truck, it's a long bed 2500HD with a 6.0 gas engine. I had a similar truck, an older generation with a lower GVWR compared with the OP's. Despite this, it's payload rating was nearly 4000 lbs. With 240K on the clock I would say the truck has "handled it" just fine!
Thank you, the truck does an excellent job hauling my camper. Fully loaded the camper weighs in close to 4000 lbs.
According to the numbers I'm over weight.
The weight police kill me. :R :B - Cummins12V98Explorer III

Most people enjoy living with blinders on. My RV has a factory scale weight of 18,075# plus 400# for gen. Would anyone actually think it now weighs 24k? It sure does and only way I know that is from actually weighing the RV.
Lucy has all those rocks that go back and forth of the West Coast!
She actually reduced her load but it seems to have not mattered. Chit comes in and Chit never seems to leave. - Me_AgainExplorer III

Maybe Likes to Tow should focus on towing?
Just sayin
Love the old truck and camper pics. Reminds me of the one my dad had with his 72 Ford long bed. I loved that truck.

I've had 4 truck campers and my last was a 10' Starcraft we bought new and had it on an F250 with the camper package which included overload springs. I also put air bags on it. Once while coming back from Wyoming I weighed the truck with camper on it and subtracted the weight of the truck. I was shocked at the weight of just the camper with water, propane, batteries and all our stuff. 3980 lbs was just too much for an F250 and that explained all the roll I got when on a crooked road. My camper supposedly weighed 2600 lbs according to the sales literature. I guess that was without the loading jacks.
My point is this, when you buy a truck to carry a truck camper be very informed about the road ready weight. If you are carrying close to two tons of tall weight and blow a rear tire things are going to get dicey in a hurry!!- larry_barnhartExplorerWe were coming home from California towing our 35 ft alpenlite fifthwheel North on the Siskiyou's going down a steep area under full control because of the Allison and the 8.1 gas engine and saw coming to pass us was a 1st gen with a camper. wind was blowing also so as it went by us I was thinking it was going to hit us because it was out of control and wandering badly plus big time body roll . Not as big of camper as the posts above. chevman

Chris, how much did the Camper weigh ready for the weekend?
Can't remember. The Chevy was bagged, the RAM was not. Over 3K for sure, most likely close to 3500-4000.
From an older post here by someone:
"Lance 900 which is 11' 3" long ad weighs a little over 4,000 lbs loaded and with 50 gallons of water."
Pic shows how the 1st and 2nd gen SRW RAM's can really handle a load.
However the 16.5 tire/rims on the 93 were a little bouncy! - Cummins12V98Explorer III
