They are common with the ASME permanently mounted LP tanks.
To the OP, you may want to just loosen the fitting coming off of the discharge of the regulator, then crack the LP tank valve open and see if it is putting out LP. Make sure no sparks or ignition sources are close by, including cell phones. LP regulators are so cheap and easy to replace, it is probably an easy fix. I would recommend an auto switch over regulator. Most modern RV regulators aren't able to be rebuilt. You don't normally see the real high quality regulators like REGO on RVs anymore.
